Pennsylvania's general fund is on track to be $1.6 billion dollars underwater by the middle of next month. In the past, the state treasury has extended lines of credit to help the state keep paying immediate expenses when funds bottom out. But Treasurer Joe Torsella says that may no longer be fiscally prudent.

On behalf of the Pennsylvania Principals Association and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), active secondary members are invited to nominate a middle level or high school level assistant principal for the 2019 State Assistant Principal of the Year Award. At the state level, this award is named the Robert E. Lavely Assistant Principal of the Year after a past president of PASSP. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, September 6, 2018.

It would be greatly appreciated if you would share this information with other persons or groups such as board members or parent groups whom you feel might be interested in making nominations.

Pittsburgh-area technical programs say they’re working to stay nimble and in touch with the employers who might give their graduates jobs. If that means axing a popular program on raising frogs because no one is finding much work from it, well, so be it.
