After Gov. Tom Corbett requested and received acting Education Secretary William Harner’s resignation, he named a one-time state teachers union executive director as Harner’s replacement.

Corbett chose Carolyn Dumaresq, Ed.D., who has been serving as the department’s executive deputy secretary, to serve as acting secretary of the state Department of Education, effective immediately.
