Recognition of Talented Educators – Seeking Talent Pool Recommendations

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) maintains a file of emerging classroom leaders that consists of a cadre of distinguished teachers and principals. These educators may be considered for membership on advisory boards and task forces, as well as candidates for special recognition programs. Please consider completing a recommendation form to identify educators who will be of great value to your community and state and who may also ultimately receive prestigious recognition. Completed forms are due no later than June 15, 2015.

The talent pool seeks secondary educators (Grade 6-12 teachers and principals) with a minimum of five years of experience in education and who are likely to remain in education for the next 15-25 years.  Specific criteria should include the following:

* Exceptional educational talent as evidenced by effective instructional practices and student learning results in the classroom and school

* Exemplary educational accomplishments beyond the classroom that provide models of excellence for the profession

* Individuals whose contributions to education are largely unheralded yet worthy of the spotlight

* Early to mid-career educators who offer strong, long range potential for professional and policy leadership

* Engaging and inspiring presence that motivates and impacts students colleagues and the community

Talent pool candidates must be building-level personnel. They are typically classroom teachers, but a principal or specialist may be considered.

PDE seeks your assistance in identifying one to three candidates via the Talent Pool Recommendation Form available in the RSS Feed at www.pdesas.org. Information provided is CONFIDENTIAL and should not be shared with the individual(s) nominated. Questions can be directed to Marlene Kanuck at (717) 783-9294 or mkanuck@pa.gov.

Complete information must be sent by U.S. Mail and posted marked no later than June 15, 2015, to:
