Shortages of school bus drivers and substitute teachers ‘devastating’ to NEPA districts

Superintendents across Northeast Pennsylvania and beyond fear more driver seats could soon be empty. And the employee shortages reach the classroom, too. A lack of substitute teachers has caused schools to close for a day or to move classes online. Leaders also worry that as the number of newly certified teachers declines each year, it will become even harder to fill full-time teaching jobs.
