All told, lawmakers sent poor districts across the state nearly $500 million, an unprecedented effort that came as a direct result of a court ruling that Pennsylvania’s school funding system was unconstitutionally inequitable. Like many of the districts that received this new funding, Scranton has recently dealt with some tough budget cycles.
