Gov. Tom Wolf announced the statewide mask order last week. It took effect at 12:01 a.m. September 7. The governor had said he wanted to leave the issue of masks to local school boards but he said he felt compelled to act as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations have spiked in recent weeks.
