Lawmakers urge state to give teachers COVID vaccine

A bipartisan group of state lawmakers on the House Education Committee on Friday called on the Department of Health to give higher priority to teachers. “We need to get our students back in the classroom full-time,” said state Rep. Curt Sonney, R-Erie County, the chairman of the House education committee. “Two days of hearings this week show that all parties recognize the toll COVID-19 is taking both academically and emotionally on our children. Time is of the essence.”
