Corbett Elected Pennsylvania’s Next Governor

According to an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Republican Tom Corbett parlayed his Western Pennsylvania roots and zeal for jailing corrupt politicians Tuesday into a successful bid to become Pennsylvania’ss next governor. “The people have spoken and they have been heard loud and clear throughout all Pennsylvania,” Corbett, 61, the state attorney general from Shaler, told a cheering crowd at the Omni William Penn Hotel, Downtown, where he held his election night party. “I understand with this election that I am the governor for all Pennsylvania — not Republican, not Democrat — but for all Pennsylvania.” Corbett received 54.5 percent of the vote, compared to Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato’ss 45.5 percent, with 99 percent of precincts reporting unofficial results. More than 3.89 million votes were cast.
