$50 million-plus in U.S. emergency funds to fight coronavirus headed to Pennsylvania

At least $50 million in emergency U.S. funds will be earmarked for Pennsylvania’s fight against the coronavirus as the state ramps up preparedness for a potential outbreak, state Budget Secretary Jen Swails said Thursday. Her comments came shortly before the U.S. Senate voted 96-1 to pass an $8 billion-plus emergency spending package that includes the money that will come to Pennsylvania. The U.S. House passed the same package Wednesday and the president has indicated he would sign the measure.
