Pennsylvania is well on its way to joining a growing number of states that have decided that requiring students to pass high-stakes tests to graduate is no longer the direction it wants to go. The House on Tuesday voted 191-0 to pass an amended version of Senate Bill 1095 that gives students alternatives to passing the Keystone Exams to prove their graduation readiness.

The U.S. Department of Education has announced the National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2018, and 19 in Pennsylvania are included. In total, 349 schools were recognized as being National Blue Ribbon Schools in 2018. Of the 349 schools, 300 are public and 49 are private.
