This 12-15 minute online survey measures teacher opinions regarding implementation of mindfulness, compassion, courage, equity, neuroplasticity, and cultural competence. Your responses will help guide the development of the final version of this compassionate school climate assessment.  $750 in incentives: a $250 grand prize and 10, $50 Amazon gift cards. Our approach is to use survey results with individual schools to provide feedback to teaches and guide their decisions regarding mindfulness, social emotional goals and school climate.

Aides to Gov. Tom Wolf say his proposal to close a small part of the Pennsylvania budget shortfall with a temporary early retirement incentive for state workers not only would save about $25 million next year in the state general fund, but it also would produce savings for the pension system serving state workers.

The state secretary of corrections has a lot of ideas about keeping people out of prison. But surprisingly, very few of them actually have to do with prison. "If I could fund one single program," John Wetzel said, "it would be early childhood education."

The meeting at the Education Department came two weeks after the Trump administration rescinded Obama-era guidance that instructed schools to let students use bathrooms in line with their stated gender identity, not their assigned gender at birth.

The pension plan for more than 105,000 state employees and more than 127,000 retirees had strong investment returns in 2006. Yet the 6.5% in earnings as of Dec. 31 helps to demonstrate the failure of state lawmakers to reform the pension system.

Area school district administrators say they are working to determine what bathrooms and locker rooms transgender students should use after the Trump administration last week reversed guidance by the Obama administration about the issue, removing federal protections that allowed transgender students to use bathrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identities.
