Bieri Assumes Presidency of State Principals’ Association

(Harrisburg, Pa.) — David G. Bieri, principal of Robert Morris Elementary School in the Scranton School District, Scranton, Pa., recently assumed the presidency of the Pennsylvania Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals (PA Principals Association).

PA Principals Association’s membership of approximately 4,000 is comprised of elementary, middle level and secondary school principals, assistant principals and supervisors and is affiliated with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

Mr. Bieri took over the association reins from 2007-08 president Michael E. Allison of Hopewell High School following the annual business meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 during the 16th annual PA Principals Association conference in Pittsburgh (Oct. 19-21, 2008).

Most recently, he served the association as the 2007-08 president-elect. He began his career as a special education teacher at Stroudsburg High School before serving for 12 years as assistant principal at Dallas, Crestwood and Pittston high schools.

Mr. Bieri joined the PA Principals Association 14 years ago. Before becoming president-elect, Mr. Bieri was PA Principals Association secretary and a member of the organization’s Assistant Principals’ Conference Committee (1995-96), the PA Principals Association Conference Committee (2002-03) and Assistant Principal At-Large for the Pennsylvania Association of Secondary School Principals’ Executive Committee (2001-03).

In addition to PA Principals Association activities, Mr. Bieri has participated in the Pennsylvania Inspired Leadership Initiative, the Northeastern Educational Intermediate Unit 19 Continuing Professional Education Committee and the Truancy Reduction Initiative for the Adjudicated & Non-Adjudicated Youth.

He has also served as an executive board member of the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils and as chair of the UNICO High School Soccer Cup.

Mr. Bieri earned a bachelor’s of science degree in special education from East Stroudsburg University. He also received his master’s of education in school administration from East Stroudsburg.
