STATE PRINCIPALS ASSOCIATION REACTS FAVORABLY TO GOVERNOR’S STATEMENT ON STANDARDIZED TESTING

HARRISBURG (August 14, 2017) – The Pennsylvania Principals Association is pleased to release this statement after Gov. Tom Wolf joined with the Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera and other educators today to announce a significant reduction in standardized testing.

This reduction will shorten the amount of time students in grades 3-8 spend on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) tests by about 20 percent.

“The PA Principals Association praises Gov. Wolf and his administration for taking the time to make the right decision for the students in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Hopefully this is just the beginning of a shift away from the overwhelming allotment of time dedicated to high stakes testing of our students,” stated Dr. Joseph H. Clapper, PA Principals Association Assistant Executive Director.
