The Educational Leadership Program, within the Department of Educational Leadership & Special Education at Shippensburg University, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor to begin either the spring or fall semester of 2019. We are looking for an experienced practitioner-scholar to contribute to our programs and develop leadership for 21 st century schools and districts. The successful candidate will teach on-campus and off-campus classes in both face-to-face and online formats, will be available and willing to teach on weekends (as needed) in addition to teaching during the week, will be expected to work closely with public school districts within Shippensburg University’s service region, and will be expected to participate actively with the Shippensburg University School Study Council. The standard teaching load is nine credit hours per semester for graduate positions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach summer classes. In addition, faculty members are expected to perform other duties as assigned in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement. Shippensburg University is located in rural south-central Pennsylvania, and is easily accessible from Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, and New York City via air, rail, or automobile. Shippensburg University is one of fourteen campuses in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). A Master’s level comprehensive university, Shippensburg enrolls nearly 7100 graduate and undergraduate students across 51 undergraduate and 24 graduate programs. Required Skills/Qualifications: 1. A minimum of five years of successful administrative service, including superintendent or assistant superintendent, building-level, or building-level supervisory leadership experiences in public schools; 2. Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership or a closely-related field of study from an accredited university; 3. Evidence of understanding and commitment to the preparation of educational leaders to meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse populations; 4. Evidence of application of research principles in Pre K-12 educational leadership with emphasis in one or more of the following areas: leadership, supervision of instruction, curriculum leadership, assessment of learning, human resource management, educational finance, school law, professional development, special education, or a related area of educational leadership; 5. A Pennsylvania Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility, or Principal/Supervisory Certificate, or comparable out-of-state credentials; 6. Demonstrated commitment to teaching effectiveness, scholarly research, and social justice issues; 7. Capacity to lead and support scholarly research regarding the issues of poverty and equity for 21st century schools; 8. Experience working with marginalized, diverse and underrepresented populations; 9. Willingness and ability to travel to schools and sites throughout the region. Preference will be given to individuals with leadership experience in high-poverty schools and districts, to those with experience teaching and leading at the high school level, to those who have taught graduate level leadership courses, and to those who have participated on doctoral dissertation committees. The Downingtown Area School District is seeking a dynamic individual for the administration of athletics in Chester County’s largest school district. DASD provides educational services for approximately 13,000 students with a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities. The A.D. will oversee all athletic activities throughout the entire district. Duties include oversight of the athletic program for our two nationally ranked high schools, coordination with the middle level athletic programs, student athlete academic eligibility, game schedules, transportation, budget, recruitment and selection of coaches, oversight at events which includes evening and weekend hours. The qualified candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, expertise in sports management, knowledge of PIAA policies and regulations, minimum of five years related experience with a bachelors’ degree.
