Description:
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides states with the opportunity to build the capacity of school leaders as an evidence-based strategy to improve student outcomes. Policymakers must put into place efforts to identify where there are gaps in state-level support for principals, and align policies that will strengthen systems of support. State considerations should be made surrounding where initiatives can be directed to meet the state needs associated with principal recruitment, preparation and retention using strategic use of funds afforded under ESSA. Hear from leading researchers and policy experts about how states can rethink their support for principals, including the results of research from a recent study School Leadership Interventions Under the Every Student Succeeds Act – Volume I – A Review of the Evidence Base, Initial Findings.
